Writing I’m Sorry

September 7, 2017

It can be difficult to say I’m sorry to someone we have hurt, even in a letter. I believe the hardest person to say I’m sorry to is ourselves. We become are own worst enemies. Part of being free includes forgiving ourselves.

Dear Beloved,

You look at photos of me and your countenance falls. You cringe when you hear my name. You look past me when we meet face to face. In the sands of your life, I’ve left footprints of heartbreak. There are no excuses for the pain. I told you I’d be there for you one thousand percent. I’d protect you, and only seek out the best for you. Yet, I let you down. If you can’t trust me, who can you trust? I said many horrible things to you that cannot be unspoken. I held back love and gave you plastic tokens.

I’m sorry I disappointed you. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me.

Sincerely,

Your Reflection
